Bungee jumps

A perfect way to experience an unbelievable surge of adrenaline and indescribable feelings is to try bungee jumping J

Bungee jumping originates from the Pacific island of Pentecost. Between April and June every year, men in the southern part of the island jump from tall towers (around 20 to 30 metres) with vines tied to their feet, in a ritual believed to ensure a good yam harvest. The bravery of the men is rated by the height of the jump and the distance between the head of the jumper and the ground.

The first modern bungee jumps were made on 1 April 1979 by four members of the Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club.  Dressed in dinner jackets (as per club regulations), they jumped from the 72 meters Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, and were arrested shortly thereafter. However, they continued jumping elsewhere, and the idea blossomed a decade later in New Zealand.

New Zealand is considered the homeland of modern bungee jumping. The use of rubber cord for bungee jumping was introduced there at the end of the 80s. The New Zealander A. J. Hackett did a lot to build the public interest in the sport. His legendary jump from the Eiffel Tower was shown on all major TV channels.

After this memorable event bungee jumping spread into France and the whole of Europe, gaining worldwide popularity. In Bulgaria the first bungee jumps were made in 1992. On April 10th, 1992 Rossen Kasabov made two experimental jumps from the Asparoukhov Bridge in Varna.

All materials, products, and equipment used by our partners who organize bungee jumps are certified according to international standards - TUV, CE and ISO. The club is consulting the production of the specific outfit for bungee jumping, thus improving its safety.  All events, courses, and services are run by professional instructors with many years of experience, who strictly observe all safety standards.
Ropes for bungee jumping - bungee ropes are made of high quality extruded latex strands that are chemically treated and additionally cured at the final stage of production. The entire production process is constantly monitored and substandard strands are removed on the spot. The strands meet the requirements of ISO 2321-1983 and ISO 9001-2000.
The bungee ropes used by our partners of Vertical World is made from a different number of latex strands, depending on the weight category (40-70 kg/ 70-105 kg) it is intended for. The elasticity of the ropes depends on their thickness and according to manufacturer's data it is up to 600%. A static band limits the elongation of the rope to 400%. The length of the band is calculated to correspond to the height of the jumping platform, so that the jumper cannot touch the ground at the lowest point of the jump. The band has static bearing capacity of 2 tons. Each kit has a technical log where the number of jumps and the operating conditions are recorded. These are used to calculate the life-cycle of the kit. For safety considerations, the kits are scrapped after reaching mere 50% of the maximum total load set by the manufacturer. Scrapped kits are destroyed by incineration.
